Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist—also known as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)—to join our team. In this role, you will perform respiratory therapy treatments and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by our medical and cardiopulmonary directors, following physician orders. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting patient care, with attention to the specific needs of different age groups and populations.

  • Bonus: $5,000 sign-on bonus available

  • Shift Available: Nights

  • Employment Type: Full-time

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00pm–7:00am

  • Location: Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer treatments such as inhalation therapy, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to support patients’ respiratory needs

  • Perform diagnostic procedures including pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analyses to evaluate lung function and gas exchange

  • Set up, monitor, and manage ventilators and other life-support equipment for patients who require assistance with breathing

  • Respond as a member of the rapid response team during emergencies, providing airway management, performing intubations, and resuscitating patients in critical situations

  • Assess and monitor patients’ respiratory status, document progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed

  • Ensure that all respiratory equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to uphold patient safety and prevent infections

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A valid State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license

  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Current BCLS (AHA) certification upon hire, to be maintained

  • ACLS certification within 60 days of hire, to be maintained

  • NRP certification within 60 days of hire, to be maintained

  • PALS certification within 60 days of hire, to be maintained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner

  • Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree
